Announcement of 2019 Council Election Results

The 2018 Nominations Committee is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Council Election. The Nominations Committee exists to encourage nominations of outstanding candidates who represent the diversity of our professions and to ensure that the annual election process is fair and transparent.

This year, we had a slate of five excellent nominees who stood for two positions on Council. Some of you will remember in the not-distant past when elections were won by acclamation because so few candidates were stepping forward. The contested elections of the past few years should be a source of pride for the College.

Our voter turnout this year was a respectable 15% which is comparable to voter turnout in other years. Thank you to those who took the time to vote. The election was very close, congratulations to the successful candidates Charlene Chamberlain, R.SLP and Beatrice To, R.Aud.

We would like to thank all of the candidates who stood for Council and would encourage those who did not win in this election to consider putting their names forward again in future years. There will be positions coming open for the 2020 Council. I would encourage all ACSLPA members to participate in the governance of your professions by voting in future elections or by putting your name forward as a Council candidate.

The Council will meet in November and, in accordance with the College bylaws, will select from amongst themselves a President and Vice President for the 2019 Council.
