Celebrating Practice Poster Presentations


ACSLPA invites submissions for this year’s Celebrating Practice 2017 poster presentations.

This year, in addition to displaying the posters for the duration of the conference, we will truly be Celebrating Practice by featuring the posters and their presenters at our Thursday Wine and Cheese Reception, immediately following the afternoon sessions. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise, interests, best practices and recent research topics with colleagues from across the province. Don’t delay!!

Important Participant Information

  • At least one author must be in attendance at the Thursday afternoon Wine and Cheese Reception, stationed with the poster display.
  • You are asked to arrive at least 45 minutes before the reception to set up your poster.
  • Wine and Cheese Fees – If you are only attending the
    Wine and Cheese, and no other conference events, please email headoffice@acslpa.ab.ca that you will be attending.

    • First presenter: FREE
    • Additional presenters who are registered for conference: $5
    • Additional presenters who are not registered for conference: $20
  • You must be registered for the conference if you will be present at any time other than the Wine and Cheese reception.
  • If you would like your poster to also be on display throughout the two days of the conference, but are not attending the conference, you will need to ensure that someone is able to transport the poster to the conference and set it up on your behalf.

Format of Poster Presentation

  • Displays should feature the authors’ practice or employment setting, highlight an innovative or unique aspect of their practice, or highlight a research project. Posters are intended to be professional practice or research displays..
  • Suggested formats include: Posters, PowerPoint slides mounted individually, photo displays, etc.

  • A 4’H x 4’W display area will be provided; please ensure your poster will fit into the allotted space. The displays will be arranged throughout available space at the conference facility.

Submission of Poster Presentation

  • Submissions are encouraged from speech-language pathologists and audiologists representing a variety of practice settings, students, speech-language and audiology assistants, researchers, and educators.
  • Submissions may be from individuals or groups.

Presentation at the Conference

  • Conference registration is not required for participation at this event; however, we do require that at least one author be available at the poster display at the Thursday afternoon Celebrate Practice Wine and Cheese Reception (approximately 4:00–6:00 p.m.)
  • The author should be prepared to answer questions about the display. Authors may wish to distribute business cards and other print materials as well.
  • Submissions will be processed as received, with display spots allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Submissions will be confirmed with the contact author as they are processed.
  • Presenters are responsible for all poster materials, and the set-up and take-down of posters.
  • Posters may be taken down following the afternoon break on Friday, October 27, but no later than immediately following the conclusion of the conference.

General Notes

  • The conference will not cover expenses of poster presenters such as duplicating, handout materials, expenses for developing the poster display, shipping, travel or accommodation of the presenter(s).
  • Please note that conference registration is non-refundable if a poster is not accepted for display.
  • ACSLPA reserves the right to not approve any submitted poster, based on lack of scientific content or merit, research/investigation/production dates or previous presentations of exactly the same poster at other conferences.
