Hearing Tribunal Members Wanted

Have you ever thought of volunteering with ACSLPA? We are currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Hearing Tribunal and Complaint Review Committee.

A hearing tribunal is a formal process established and operated under Part 4 (Professional Conduct) of the Health Professions Act (HPA). Members of the tribunal are ACSLPA regulated members who hear and make independent decisions about the conduct of Alberta speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

As a member of the Hearing Tribunal/Complaint Review Committee (CRC), your role would be to act as an impartial member hearing discipline cases. Reasons and decisions are decided collectively, then sent to the member under inquiry. Although the Hearing Tribunal/CRC is not highly active, it is important to note that if you are selected to attend a tribunal, your attendance is compulsory. As such, you may be required to request time off from work.

If you are interested, and have a minimum of seven years' clinical experience, please send your curriculum vitae, along with a short description (no more than 500 words) of why you are interested in serving as a Hearing Tribunal/CRC member to dpp@acslpa.ab.ca.

Further criteria and more information are available by contacting Sandy Nickel, Director of Professional Practice – dpp@acslpa.ab.ca or 780-944-1609 | 1-800-537-0589).
